MVNOs do not own radio spectrum, meaning that they substantially depend on underlying Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to obtain network access. To compensate for this relationship of dependency and to be able to thrive and compete with the bigger players that possess their own network, MVNOs have always been innovative and ingenious players. MVNOs differentiate themselves through interesting prices, unique and suitable appliances /products/services or through highly-advanced technological solutions.

For example, several of our MVNO members have been selected by renowned car manufacturers – including Audi, Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler, and Jaguar Land Rover – to provide high-quality in-car Internet connectivity for customers throughout Europe and beyond, allowing them to stay connected with friends and family, enjoy games and entertainment, or conduct important business. Major high-tech brands such as Microsoft, Acer and Airbus have also chosen MVNOs instead of traditional operators to enable connectivity between their devices and to power their industrial-level IoT systems.

Besides their pioneering role in IoT, our members have been key innovators in the telephony sector. Indeed, some of our members were among the first telecom operators in Europe to launch unlimited 4G data offers. Similarly, some of our members paved the way to integrate e-money and e-payment applications with more classical telecommunications services.

Overall, it is clear that what MVNOs bring to the table is to the benefit of consumers, companies, public administrations and society in general.
